::Real Forza FC Season Results::

Ok, I have been procrastinating this entry since 01 Jan 2009 but I have finally found the time to this now. So, for the benefit of the players, the fans and our corporate sponsors, I have collated the results for Real Forza FC for the year 2008, complete with club history, player statistics and end of the season awards. Enjoy.

Club History
Real Forza FC was formerly known as Dark Horses FC, a team largely made up of members from the AMAT family. Formed in February 2006 by then manager Nordin Bin Amat, it blends youth with experience (whom the youngsters in the team call old farts). The team comprised of the 4 40+ year old brothers, namely Nordin, Norman, Norsham and Norhaizat, cousins Anuar, Hidayat, Nashriq, Halimen, Fauzi and Nino, and long-serving family friends such as Fazli, Redzanudin and Nizam. However, matches were only arranged sporadically, and even so, there were more likelihood of Osama becoming US president than a Dark Horses victory. One by one, the old farts retired, highlighting the fact that the club was in dire need of new blood, and after leading the club to one of their worst defeats ever, Nordin finally resigned and handed over the reins to his nephew Anuar, who gave the club a new name (courtesy of long-time friend Fazli) in a bid to turn the club's fortunes around and has been leading the club ever since.

The Players
The club places its emphasis on youth, pace, passing and movement. Through successful networking and recommendations from the club's existing players, there was an overwhelming response from footballers looking to join the club.Therefore trials were held to ensure only players that play football the "Real Forza" way willl make the grade while those who didn't were axed, never to be seen from the face of the earth again. May god bless their souls. So without further ado, here are the team squad,complete with club numbers in brackets (only those who have played 3 games or more in the year 2008 qualifies):

Goalkeeper: Syahmi (1)
Defenders: Nurhidayat (2), Saleh(3), Anuar (4), Khairon (5),Wak Abas (16), Ronnie (23), Nizam (28), Hilman (32)
Midfielders: Yunazli(7), Arif Aslam (13), Fauzi (17), Shahirzad (18), Alhafiz (22), Taufik (27), Fazli (88)
Strikers: Nashriq (10), Hidayat (11), Arip (24), Elfi (26)

Results
The opponents that the club faced often have no team name, so I will try to describe them as best as possible, depending on race, jersey colour and attitude. Also, only Real Forza scorers will be listed, because as is always the case, no one cares about the opponents when its Real Forza they are playing against. Results are listed as such:

That's about it everyone. Take note that the club's overall statistics is seriously championship-winning stuff. Even Manchester United at the moment do not have that kind of record. The club have not lost since their 6th game and won all their last 13 games, suggesting that in the early part of the season, the team needed time to gel, and it showed when they lost 2 matches in the first 5 matches alone. But when they click into full gear, they have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with and that form has spilled over to this season, where the club has already won their first 3 matches. Maintaining the unbeaten streak is going to be hard but if there is one team that can do it, it's REAL FORZA FC.

::Event Organizer::

Hello peeps! It's now time for Anuar's monthly blog update! Now, having said that, do observe the phrase "monthly update", which kind of suggests that this blog will only be updated once a month, and anything more will be a bonus (you know what they always say..too much of a good thing is a bad thing? have to agree on that). So yeah,enjoy this post while it lasts...Haha...

This week hasn't been that good for me as far as organizing events are concerned. Ok as you all know I have my own football team where I'm the manager/captain/organizer/money collecter/kit supplier/ball picker/etc,etc ( not that I'm complaining though )and which a few from the gang are heavily involved in, like Dayat,our asst manager,vice-captain,deputy organizer - in short,assisstant to everything I do; Arip, the team clown and also our top scorer with 13 goals; Alhafiz,our midfield general and goal creator; and,well, Nashriq, who turns up for 1 in every 3 matches he promised he will play in (which is an improvement from 1 in 4 two years ago).

Due to a number of factors such as the rainy weather and a lack of playing fields, the team has suffered from some inactivity the past 3 weeks or so. The one who usually organizes matches for the team (who,by the way,haven't lost in 13 games) is a certain Mr M, a certified referee and of Indian descent (I don't know why but I'm compelled to state his race here). So when he texted me on Monday night at exactly 11.33pm to inform me that he has a slot available for the team to play on Sunday at 5pm I was delighted and told him that I will ask my teammates first and will get back to him the next day. However, I was working the pm shift on Sunday,meaning that the team will have to play without their star player *coughs,coughs*. But so determined was I to play in order to maintain our unbeaten streak (which I know would surely end if I don't play) that I was texting everyone I know at work whether they were willing to swap their am shift with me even though I prefer working pm because I have difficulty waking up in the morning. Imagine my elation when a kind soul agreed to the swap! So I proceeded to notify our superiors and fill up the necessary "exchange duty" forms, and marvelled once again at the maverick smiling back at me from the mirror.

Once I had secured my 11 players on Tuesday at 4.15pm,some 16 hours after Mr M's msg,I immediately text Mr M that my team can play. His reply to me was short and sweet,but left me completely speechless: "sorry bro...taken by some one". WTF? I asked him about the availability of other playing fields and his answer,again,was non-committal: "most of them either taken or closed for repair". Which meant that all that trouble I had gone through was rendered utterly worhless by a 5-worded text message.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, my plans for "Football Frenzy" night was cancelled due to poor response which in turn, came about because of time constraints and budgeting issues. I had expected about 12 of us to go, and so I had invited some friends from work to join us to spread out the cost and they were really looking forward to playing at the CAGE.It seems now I have to tell them that its not happening.

And the holiday I had been planning in Dec with Nozie,Aiz and Sri (which apparently,some of you had gone for - whatever happened to "Oh yes, we should ALL go for a holiday TOGETHER?) looks to be hanging in the balance due to our conflicting schedules. Haiz... isn't it frustrating to plan something only to see it fall off at the end?

I wondered,once again,at the loser frowning back upon me from the mirror.

::Selamat Hari Raya::

Saya ingin mengucapkan Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri kepada semua umat Islam, Maaf Zahir dan Batin...

This year's Hari Raya takes on a new meaning for me because like every married couple, I now have to go visiting Sri's family instead of just gathering at my grandma's house, so from now on time is a very precious commodity for us. You know, like we need to pandai2 divide our time between our families to avoid disappointment on either side. Takkan stay kat 1 rumah 30 minit lepas tu chao kan? Furthermore, I was working the morning shift on the first day so there you go.

We decided to visit Sri's grandma first at Bedok before joining up with my family. Supposed to have reached there at 4-ish and then leave by around 6pm but Sri took like FOREVER to get ready (Girls,does it really matter how the pin looks like on your tudung? Sheesh!) so in the end we reached there at 5.30pm. Now this is the first time I am meeting Sri's family in their entirety so needless to say, I was a bit nervous at the questions they would ask, how they would look at me (for e.g, "asal Sri kahwin ngan lelaki handsome giler nye? Confirm deni the playboy type!) and etc. I know its unlike me to get all restless when the spotlight's on me, but hey, it shows that I AM human after all.

So basically I chatted with her grandma,uncles and cousins (the guys, not the girls,I'll get slaughtered if I do that), always aware of how I sit, my hand movement when I talk, forcing myself to laugh at a joke they cracked which is really not funny and even then,I have to restrain myself from laughing too loudly like I always do. In a way, acting senonoh when I am actually a tak senonoh type of guy. If you can do that people then I really salute you like how I saluted myself. Sri remarked afterwards that I so-called did well (YEH!!! malam dapat!!! hehe...) but now that I've gotten that first meeting out of the way, I promise they'll see the REAL Anuar the next time I drop by and visit. MUAHAHAHAHA!!!

So then it's Sri's turn to meet my family and although I was sure she will do just fine, seeing as how pure and demure she is, I was a little bit worried at how she will get on with my mum (because of a little incident which I will explain in due course). So we met them straight at my grandaunt's house at Teban because they had already left my grandma's house at Yishun to go there. The thing is,we reached there earlier then them and my grandaunt, being old as she is, had to ask who I was (Saya Nurul, anaknye Ela Nek) before she let me in. In the 15 minutes we were there, never before had I felt so awkward in my life (except maybe 5 other instances,but I digress) because I wasn't that particularly close to her,and I still wasn't sure she knew who I was (I was imagining her suddenly jumping out of her seat and screaming "you are intruders in my house!" and taking a kitchen knife to chase us out), so our "conversation" (to call it an interview would be more apt) was punctuated with pregnant pauses and lots of "makanlah kuih". Something like this:

Her: Nurul keje mana skarang?
Me: ICA. Chop passport.
Her: Ooooh.
*pause for about 30secs,then suddenly...*
Her:Makanlah kuih,apa yang ada.
Me: ye nek,tengah makan ni.

Yep,so you repeat the scenario above for about 5 times and there you have it, my conversation with my Grandaunt.

to be continued. . . .

::Chalet update::

Random fact of the day 1: I have the same web template as Qiqin! (though hers is nicer)

Random fact of the day 2: My right wrist is bigger than my left wrist by 1cm!

Random fact of the day 3: My right nut is heavi...hehe...just kidding...

Just got back from Solat Jumaat at Masjid An-nur and I seriously think that they should expand the mosque because this is the third week running that I had to pray OUTSIDE of the mosque's premises (right next to a Subaru Impreza,nice car by the way). Admittedly,I only arrived shortly after the azan for all 3 weeks but that is no excuse until I had to pray outside. The thing is,how do you expect we muslim guys from the whole of woodlands to fit into an old mosque? Woodlands has arguably the largest Malay contingent after Tampines and Bedok, throw in the fact that those working at Marsiling and Woodlands Industrial Estate and ICA, as well as those schooling at Republic Poly and the other sec schools (Marsiling,Woodlands,Woodlands Ring,Woodgrove,Admiralty,Si Ling,Evergreen) also go there to perform their weekly obligations means that ONE mosque is no longer enough to cater to the estimated 6000 Muslims who go there every week.

Then again,maybe it's not their fault. Maybe the "G" should be the ones addressing this issue (sensitive topic,korang faham2 jelah G tu sape,hint:ikan yu and company). We can donate $50000, $500000, $5,000,000, but ultimately, it's up to them to allocate land to build another mosque in the woodlands area or at worst,expand the mosque.

Ok here's an update on the people going for the chalet:

Going + overnighting: Anuar,Sri,Dayat,Nozie,Maria(!) and Fahmi,Sharul,Baizura,MAR(!!!)
Going,not sure overnighting or not: Azlina,Fana
Still pending: Arip,Zainal,Qiqin,Ferdy,Radiyah,Hykel,Azrie,Shu
Can't Go: Zaf
Haven't reply: Alhafiz,Nashriq (no surprises there)

Looking at the numbers,I'm guessing at least 15 people are going for the chalet,so I think I'll do the booking now, hopefully takde yang last minute back out (due to unforeseen circumstances such as nenek kau kahwin or kucing nak beranak).

I just remembered I haven't bayar zakat fitrah for this year (for myself, mum and Sri). Got to do it soon. Korang dah bayar belum?

Damn I'm beginning to sound like Nashriq.

::Chalet update::

Ok gang, I need suggestions on activities we can have during the chalet. I have a few which I will list here:

- movie marathon (comedy,horror,action)
- games (charades,ball games,water bomb,wet t-shirt contest? hehe..)
- night walk (for those yang overnight. For your info, the chalet is just a 10-minute walk away from Old Changi Hospital,so for those yang tak pernah explore,this is a good chance to do so. Perhaps after watching "Pontianak Sundel Bolong" we could go and pay OCH a visit,no?)
- bicycling/rollerblading/swimming/ at Changi beach
- free n easy, eg maybe the couples nak jalan2 and memotek somewhere ke while the singles play cards and the rest ("the rest" = those displaying anti-social behaviour) like Sharul can play his PSP and Alhafiz can do his daily regime of 10,000 crunches and push-ups all night long ( Oh ya,for the guys who are fans of the winning eleven series,I can bring along my PS2,cos I have 3 controllers and the multi tab player,just need 1 more controller and we can have a mini tournament - 1 team=2 players - and see who can defeat the defending champions, currently the siblings combo of Anuar "Mr Berg" Razak and Hidayat "Faaatfaaaat" Razak.

I thing which I definitely wanna have is a barbeque because a) I'm sure it'll be a hit with all of you and b) It's been a long since we had one together and I kinda miss it. However on that day I'll need a few of you to help with the barbeque and stuff ,so you can start volunteering yourself now. =)

So far,the response have been lukewarm. I'm waiting for at least another 7 to confirm they can go before I book the chalet. The response,so far -:

Can go + overnight:Yours truly,Sri,Dayat,Nozie,Sharul
Going,not overnighting: Maria and her bf, Fahmi
Pending: Hykel,Qiqin,Firdy,Radiyah,Arip,Fana.
Can't go: Zaf
Haven't reply: Alhafiz,Baizura,Mar,Shu,Azrie,Azlina and Nashriq

Note: If you have any potential "gangsters" who wanna join the gang,feel free to bring them on that day. However, those who drinks,gambles,spouts vulgarities and beat people up are not welcome (we looking for "gangsters" people, not gangsters).

One more last thing, depending on the number of people going, each of will have to fork out about $15-$20 to help "finance" the chalet booking, BBQ and other miscellaneous stuff. Therefore encourage each other to go because if more people go, you pay less. Hehe.

Chalet on the 9th and 10th December!!!

Ok Gang,I presume all of you are here staring at this ugly,lifeless thing which I think people are calling a "blog" or something like that after receiving my message. Well, I don't think I really need a blog,but I have my reasons for having one now,and I have a feeling I'll bore you guys with these reasons,but what the heck,I guess I'll bore you
anyway.Therefore,the reasons are as follows:

Sometimes I may organize outings or events such as bowling, karaoke or just simply a lepak session. Now,because the GANG is expanding by the day,I can't simply send an sms because a)I don't have everyone's contact numbers (eg baizura and shu,and I'm too shy to ask..really...) b)the message itself would take up 3-4 pages and not everyone will receive it (try sending a 3-page sms to 20 people) and c)some people,it seems, don't bother to reply to smses (no nashriq,I'm not referring to you).
Oh, and to sound like dayat, "sms nowadays expensive".

Which brings us to using e-mails, but similarly, I don't have everyone's e-mail accounts and this time, I'm too lazy to ask (try keying in AnUar_R84@hotmail.com into ur hp and you'll see what I mean).

And planning these outings during our monthly gatherings doesn't seem to help cos they always seem to "tak jadi" in the end. So I did my homework and observed that most of the GANG have their own blogs and are quite active on the net.Then, like a flash of lightning,it hit me that hey,maybe starting my own blog is a way to reach out to these people.

Hence the birth of this blog,so tt you techno-savvy individuals can just simply log on to the net and check the details of upcoming events and outings right here. Whether I will update it regularly with sprinklings of my boring little life,laced with unimportant ramblings such as "oh,my toenail broke yesterday and it hurts" or "caught brad pitt/orlando bloom/aliff aziz/bj kadir on tv and he's soooo handsome!" is another matter altogether. But hey,even Dayat achieved gold in his IPPT during NS,showing that the impossible CAN happen,so do watch this space.

Ok,now that we have got "THE REASONS" out of the way (that was quite a mouthful wasn't it?), its time for "THE CHALET". Ok,basically,I had been panning a chalet for us and have been scouring the net for a suitable chalet that is affordable,available and is big enough to house all of us (all of us refers to: me,sri,dayat,fana,nozie,sharul,arip, rad,al,azlina,baizura,nashriq,qiqin,firdy,mar,azrie,shu,maria,hykel & zaf-->20 of us). Now,I have already taken leave for 9 & 10 dec which, incidentally, coincides with our dear Nozie's birthday. So,the chalet will be held over this 2 days. The chalet which I have selected,after painstakingly studying the other chalets,is aloha changi chalet L.You can view the details of the chalet here: https://www.aloharesorts.com.sg/booking/chalet/chaletDetails.asp?lid=9.

Now,because yours truly is a civil servant (ehem ehem),I get to book the chalet at a subsidised rate of $85/day so its $170 for 2 days,$181.70 after GST.But here's the thing - I need you guys to get back to me A.S.A.P on whether you can make it for the chalet because most of the chalets are fully booked and I want to book this chalet by tuesday latest. I can't book now because there's a cancellation fee if I cancel and it doesn't make sense to go ahead with it when only 4 people can make it (what?!and play Scrabble all night?).

Therefore I really need your cooperation on this one and do what is necessary to make it for the chalet.Apply leave,claim off,take MC,whatever - get back to me asap via sms. And for your info,7th is a sunday,8th is a public holiday(deepavali) so maybe you can have a long weekend and come back to work on Thursday? I promise you there will be lots of fun but its only fun if all of us are there.

So please say you can go and we'll all be happy. =)
